AnNy RisSuM Banner Exchange ~ 9/17/2004
Hey peeps, thought I'd mention the new Banner Exchange we are running on Aneurysm. After a long haul as the "Underground Music Banner Exchange" the banner exchange is now getting a make over and will be called the "AnNy RisSuM Banner Exchange".

Where before we used a simple javascript to rotate banners, and had no stats, or no abilty for the members to change their info.. we now have installed Easy Banner™ software and have all of the above! Now members can sign up imediately. No more email the admin and wait to see if your banner was added. Now you can join, change your banner, view stats, view or change your info, all from the site.

All current UMBE members will have to re-join unfortunately. As there was no way for us to set up accounts because there were no account's with the old exchange. A system notice banner has been placed on the old UMBE service to notify members of the change. Visit http://bannerexchange.aneurysmrecords.com for mor info and to join.

AnNy History ~ 9/04/2004
I was thinking about the history of AnNy RisSum the other day after being asked about such from a friend and thought I'd yap about it on the blog a lil...

Originally Aneurysm Records was just a showcase for indie bands.. kinda like Mp3.com or a similar site. I had it were bands could sign up to have their own page. Add music streams and that sorta stuff. Then a few local friends, some cats I know in Pennsylvannia, and I started bands and whatnot. Then started home recording. Eventually we started making our own CDR albums. Recording, designing art work, and burning them ourselves. First one I did was fro the Demonsix s/t CDR. I designed the cd art, transfered the audio from the original cassette to digital, and mastered it a bit.

About this time I dumped the "CDbaby/mp3.com" style indie band sign up thing and just made this our lil CDR record label website. Later I signed up for a paypal account so we could make them available to purch on the site.

When we first went to the "our CDR label" format I made up this CDR of demos called "Aneurysm Records Demos Vol. 1". Which had some home recordings of the original bands that were a part of this thing; Demonsix, n|v, jake&thefatman, and Lee Fields. It was pretty shitty but I made up a handful and proceded to advertise on the website about the "Free Shit" promotion. Which consisted of whoever emailed me the words.. "I want the free shit" I'd send em a copy of Demos Vol 1.

Anyway, months go by, I get like 2 emails about the "free shit". Which, in all reality, I was hoping for not alot, but a couple dosen chaps over a month or two would be acceptable.

Well, one day I'm checking my email and there's like 50 emails asking for the "free shit". I'm like "holy shit!". I didn't have any where near that many to send out. Yet, I'm determined. I start burning, and printing up as many copies as I can. I had made up about 40 or so. That night when I went back to my inbox, I find about another 100 emails or more, again asking for the "free shit".

To this day I have no clue how it happened. Perhaps someone posted it on a classifieds site or something. Maybe the search engines had just spidered. Maybe someone forwarded it along via email. I don't know. But at this point there's no way I can make all these CDs. Or afford to make em on my budjet. I had already went through a pack of CDs and labels.

But again, I'm determined. I at this point ended the "free Shit" promotion on the website. Setting a deadline time, and said that whoever got in their request before that would get the CD.
Even after that the requests came pooring in. In a two day span I had gotten like 250+ emails asking for the "free shit".

Going by the deadline I set, about 120 people were going to get the CD. I had 40 or so made and over the next week I made up 30 or so more each night mailing them the next day, untill I had done all 120 or so.

To this day I still get the occasional.. 'I want the free shit" or "is the free shit still available?" email. Needless to say there has not been a "free shit 2" promotion. Or a "Demos Vol 2"... yet.
