Johnny Ramone is Remembered ~ 1/22/2005
A bronze statue honoring late punk guitarist Johnny Ramone was unveiled before hundreds of celebrities and cheering fans at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in LA on January 14th. Ramone, co-founder and guitarist of The Ramones, was 55 when he died of prostate cancer in September at his Los Angeles home. This $100,000 statue sits near the grave of bandmate Dee Dee Ramone, who died of a drug overdose in 2002.

Grammy-winning producer Rick Rubin said at the Friday unveiling that The Ramones were as influential on the world of rock 'n' roll as the Beatles. Tommy Ramone, the only surviving member of the original band, said the memorial symbolized the spirit of The Ramones' music. "He wanted the fans to have a place to come and a way to feel in touch with this music that got so many things right," he said.

Hollywood Forever is the final resting place for hundreds of Hollywood stars, but none with such a detailed and self capturing headstone.

People will Buy Anything! ~ 1/6/2005
Wade Jones of Belmont, NC is making quite a profit off of his memorabilia of "The King" Elvis Presley. Jones retrieved a cup and water contents after a 1977 Presley concert that he says Presley drank from. After these many years of the cup and water sitting in his freezer, he decided to please some lucky Presley fans by auctioning off these items on eBay.

Jones has sold three tablespoons of the Elvis water for $455. He has just finished his auction for an appearance with the foam cup that Elvis drank from. He originally wanted just $300 plus traveling expenses for whomever won this auction. He did much better then expected.

The Nutballz cookie company, which makes cookies free of wheat or refined sugar, won the appearance for $3,000. Their plan is to us the cup as a drawing card for their Jan. 25th fund-raiser to benefit the University of Maryland's Center for Celiac Research or the study of gluten intolerance.

Fans of Elvis are welcome to attend and have their picture taken with the cup for a mere $1 a photo. This of course is only after they pay the $15 cover charge.

This just validates to the world that Elvis will always be the King.

Marilyn Manson and the Chocolate Factory? ~ 1/5/2005
According to DC101 Johnny Depp will base his character Willy Wonka in the upcoming movie remake of "Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory" on none other than Marilyn Manson.

Depp was keen on giving the Wonka character a darker persona, and was inspired by Manson's performance in the Tim Burton directed "Antichrist Superstar". "He has his music and pictures in his trailer to help get in character." a source says, "He's making Willy far more sinister than before and there's a little of Marilyn in there."

Not the first time Depp has based a character on a rock icon, he also based his character Jack Sparrow in the movie "Pirates Of The Caribbean" on The Rolling's Stones' Keith Richards.
